The main Beneficiaries of project results
The environmental goal of AIR-AWARE project is to improve the awareness and to facilitate determinist decision making from several groups concerning the air quality impact, with an important component in favour of prevention and mitigation actions.
-
Future potential users of the AIR-AWARE system
These are specialists working in interdisciplinary teams at the level of:
urban planning centres/directions, which are involved in the elaboration of analysis studies, diagnosis and prognosis, urban and territorial planning documentations/guides. Based on the long-term prognosis resulted, these experts can elaborate various urban development scenarios, in order to choose the optimal variant which best integrates the options of the different actors involved in the process with the urban development strategy, considering the principles of sustainable development;
environmental and public health local and regional authorities, which are decentralized public services implementing the policy and strategy in relation to environment, respectively public health at local/regional level. Also, the environment and public health authorities are responsible for organising various activities with an instructive, formative and educational purpose, and for informing and communicating to those interested actors on the evolution and on measures for environmental protection.
-
Future users of information and air quality forecast
Considering the special role and responsibility that local authorities have in managing the urban environ¬ment, the innovative AIR-AWARE system will bring important benefits, like environmental and urban planning determinist decision taking, elaborating and updating their strategies and plans by incorporating the prognosis, evolution scenarios and feed-back simulations for air quality, generated by the AIR-AWARE system.

General public
For most European citizens, the future is an urban one, and in a densely populated Europe, the sustainable development of urban areas is essential to the well-being of the Community as a whole.
Thus, through the scope of the project and through direct access to results, the citizens inhabiting in densely populated urban areas, and affected by frequent episodes of air pollution resulting impacts on the public health, are the final beneficiary of the innovative AIR-AWARE system implementation.
Information and inter-communication at the level of communities is needed for social and economic situation analysis, identification of issues and problems, mobilization of resources, specific message design and delivery, and constant feedback. The environment becomes a major preoccupation for the European citizen and efforts to facilitate the access of the general public to results of “avant-gardist” environmental projects are important.
